Shawntell McWilliams is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, currently residing in Katy, Texas with her husband Keith McWilliams, who is a Vice president at JP Morgan Chase. For more than 15 years, Shawntell’s dedicated focus has been a humble approach toward methods of giving back through community service initiatives. Her favorite proverb is “The journey is the reward.” Through her tremendous efforts, she has helped raise over five hundred thousand dollars for civic organizations, communities, and education.

 

Shawntell began her career as a college professor and administrator. Realizing her unwavering desire to bringing value and meaning in the life of others, led to her current role in nonprofit leadership as Vice President of Sisters Network Incorporated; a national breast cancer organization headquartered in Houston, Texas. Shawntell is a proud four year breast cancer survivor.

 

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas; a Master of Science degree in Human Services Administration: Concentration in Fund Development and Grant Writing from Louisiana State University; and a Post Master’s degree as an Education Specialist in Education Leadership from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She plans to continue her studies toward a Doctorate in Education.

 

Spending years as an educator, Shawntell believes all students should have the opportunity to attend College regardless of their socioeconomic background. Her awareness and belief in social skills led Shawntell to attend The Protocol School of Washington and received a certification in Corporate Etiquette and International Protocol. Since obtaining the certification, she has made it one of her goals to provide etiquette knowledge to students and professionals.

 

Shawntell works enthusiastically in the support of various causes and has chaired numerous events for laudable not-for-profit organizations. Staying to true to her life’s purpose, she chaired the Sisters Network, Inc. Pink Angel luncheon twice, to assist in raising funds for breast cancer survivors. Shawntell’s passion for education and children has transpired into her chairing events to raise funds for scholarships and other educational programs. She chaired the Greater Houston Women Chamber of Commerce STEAM Luncheon and Style Show, The Links Tea and Fashion Show, and The Childcare Council of Greater Houston Inc. luncheon, National Kidney Foundation Luncheon, to name a few.  This year she is looking forward to Chairing the International Mother’s Day Soiree’ for Lights Cancer Action International Magazine designed to promote diversity and mothers in Greater Houston.

 

Shawntell enjoy fashion and has received the opportunity to channel her “inner model” by strutting the runway as a celebrity model for the 2015 Women’s Home ReNew and ReDo Fashion Show. She enjoys being a part of young female’s growth process, which led her to one of her favorite pleasures of judging and coordinating national pageants. Shawntell has coordinated and judged local, state and national pageants in support of young girls for over fifteen years.   

 

Shawntell was selected as a 2017 ABC-13 Woman of Distinction by Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and is affiliated with numerous organizations such as The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, The Links, Inc., Junior League of Houston, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Greater Houston Women Chamber of Commerce. Shawntell is a graduate of Leadership Houston, Class 34; she is excited for the opportunity to broaden her knowledge in civic leadership and be of service in Houston and the surrounding communities.

 

Shawntell also, spends quality time serving on three boards, the National Breast Cancer Coalition, Young Women College Preparatory Academy of Houston Independent School District and Let the Fashions Begin, Inc.
